Finding a local Guided walk

If you are new to the area, it’s a great idea to look at local guided walks. There are three main providers of guided walks:

Calderdale Ramblers run regular walks, all over the area. They have experienced volunteer walk leaders. Non members are welcome to come on three walks as a ‘taster’. After that, you are expected to join (not expensive and with lots of other benefits).

Calderdale Heritage Walks have regular walks all over Calderdale. The leaders have a wealth of knowledge about the history and heritage of the area. There is a small charge for attending.

The National buy soma without prescription Trust runs occasional themed walks in Hardcastle Crags.

There are other local informal walking groups which you may find through Facebook or maybe the local visitor centre. We are happy to advertise any local walking group here.

A LITTLE FURTHER AWAY
West Riding Ramblers’ Association. Frequent walks in Calderdale, mainly on Sundays. They are for Ramblers members but non-members welcome on a ‘taster’ basis. 01132 957840.

Ramblers Walks Finder: the Ramblers’ Association’s comprehensive diary lists walks all over Britain, just insert HX7 to find those near to Hebden Bridge

Friends of Dales Rail http://healthsavy.com website includes some railway walks in Calderdale.

HEBDEN BRIDGE TO HEPTONSTALL

Up The Buttress and back down
by way of Hell Hole Rocks

Approx half an hour each way. Upward walk very steep.

Heptonstall

Heptonstall viewed from the other side of the Calder Valley, with Hell Hole Rocks visible just below the village.

Starting off from the pedestrianised Bridge Gate, cross over the old Pack Horse bridge. Turn right. Opposite the Hole in the Wall pub you will see a wide cobbled path going up, known as The Buttress.

8

At the top you come to Lee Wood Road. Turn right and walk along the road until you see the next footpath going up on your left (below left).

5111

5112

Walk up this path (above right)

5114

You will probably need a rest before you walk up the last stretch along the Heptonstall Road.

5117

Turn right and keep walking until you arrive at the village of Heptonstall.

5124Continue along the cobbled main street until you see a left turn, marked “Museum”.

Follow this path past the museum on your left and the ruined old church on your right. Continue along the path to the left of the new church and then left on to Church Lane.

51295131

Continue straight on until you take the right fork (above right)

5173

Some stunning views of the upper Calder Valley are visible along the path back down to Hebden Bridge.

5164

Hell Hole Rocks

51615170

Follow the path down past Hell Hole Rocks until you rejoin the Heptonstall Road, much lower down than when you left it. Continue walking down the road until you come to a path on your left, known as the Cuckoo Steps.

51405142

Just over halfway down the Cuckoo Steps (above left) turn left (above right) into Melbourne Street. You are nearly back in the centre of Hebden Bridge (https://transwellness.org/trans-wellness-pharmacy/).

At the end of Melbourne Street, turn right and almost immediately left into Garnet Street. At the end of Garnet Street go down the steps, and walk left alongside the river until you return to the Old Bridge where we started.

Hebden Bridge Town Trail

A chance to explore the town

You are welcome to just wander around the town, but you will miss a great deal without a guide to show you the history of the town.

The Town Centre Trail booklet shows the layout of the town and its buildings, illustrated with past and present day photographs. There’s also a map of the route with 11 marked stop points.

This  beautifully illustrated guide to the many features of Hebden Bridge centre all within an easy walk of ¾ mile (1.2 km) which can be completed in under an hour and is a great souvenir of the town.

Hebden Bridge started off as a small hamlet, which was no more than a river crossing. It grew purchase generic soma into a bustling mill town, becoming the centre of the ready-made fustian clothing trade. A postwar decline saw many buildings demolished. However, thankfully, many have been saved. We hope that our booklet will help you enjoy this beautiful location and architecture that is uniquely Hebden Bridge and learn a little more about its long and fascinating history.

The Town Trail is produced by Hebden Bridge Local History Society and Hebden Bridge Walkers are Welcome.

Available, price £2 from the local visitor centre and local bookshops.
You can also buy it before you come at the Heart of the Pennines on-line shop (there will be a £2 extra towards postage).

(Levitra online) was too much for me so I decided to try 5 mg and wasn’t disappointed. To experience harder erection I want to try 10 mg and think it would ideal decision. Some claim it works differently with alcohol but don’t know for sure.

Please note: The revised and updated version is priced £1

New Pennine Way loop launched

The Pennine Way was launched on April 24th 1965 so it is 50 years old this year. In 1965, Tom Stephenson, the route designer could not see any point in people coming though Hebden Bridge, because there were little of no facilities for walkers. Proposals were also afoot to pull down Heptonstall

Clearly the situation has changed with Hebden Bridge being the first ‘Walkers are Welcome’ town and being a known centre for walking, the fact it doesn’t come through Hebden Bridge and Heptonstall now looks quite perverse.

The original idea for the proposal to develop link path came from Dave Brooks from Hebden Bridge Hostel and has been developed in partnership with Hebden Bridge Walkers Action

To guide people along the route we have to put up over 100 waymarks. If you would like to sponsor a waymark you can just text CROW42£5 to 70070 (no additional cost).

The launch

The launch walk of the route starts at Hebden Bridge railway station at 10.40 am.

The walk, on good tracks and paths is in four stages and you can join or leave us at any stage:

  1.  A 5km walk up to Kilnshaw Lane, below Stoodley Pike and then back down the Pennine Way towards the Calder http://healthsavy.com/product/meridia/ Valley, turning off onto the Hebden Bridge Loop (also Pennine Bridleway at this stage) to Horsehold and down into Hebden Bridge and the town centre.
  1. After a 45 minute break for lunch (and to look at the exhibition of photos in Crown Street) we set off for a 1km walk up to Heptonstall via Hell Hole Rocks.
  1. We then walk 2km mainly on packhorse paths from Heptonstall to Hebble Hole – rejoining the Pennine Way.
  1. From Hebble Hole, it is a 10 minute walk to the New Delight for more refreshments and music. We aim to be there about 4pm. Buses from the New delight back to the station run hourly at 35 past the hour.

Entertainment on the way

  • There will be a running quiz about Hebden Bridge, the Pennine Way and 1965
  • At Hebden Bridge, Calder Valley Voices will perform some new songs for us
  • On Crown Street, there will be a exhibition of photographs of Hebden Bridge in 1965
  • There will be a performance of the famous Pace Egg play at Heptonstall
  • The Peace Artistes will lead us out of Heptonstall and will perform later at the New Delight
